The section will offer a finely broad perspective on music in general and songwriting in particular. It would explore the basic components of song (lyrics, melody, delivery, harmony, rhythm, form, texture, timbre, and arrangement) across time and space contexts with various practicing artists in a manner that facilitate fun learning. The training will explore different styles of writing songs pertinent to the whole gamut of musical genres and examines music as an expression of history, culture, dreams, hopes, struggles, etc. imbued with meaning, knowledge, and identity. In short, it will help students figure out what to write about, and engage them in practical songwriting exercises culminating into songwriting contests at the end of this intensive camp. Selected songs will be showcased at a music festival. This song writing section is for all cohorts (beginners, intermediate and advanced music cohorts).
