This guitar component of the camp is designed to introduce students to the world of guitar, focusing on both acoustic and electric guitar. Through focused instruction and practice, students will develop fundamental musical skills such as:
Basic Technique: Proper posture, finger placement, and strumming techniques.
Chord Progressions: Learning to play a variety of chord progressions and strumming patterns.
Music Theory: Understanding basic music theory concepts, including scales, keys, and time signatures.
Soloing: Developing improvisational skills and learning to play guitar solos.
Music Reading: Learning to read and interpret sheet music and tablature.
Students will have the opportunity to perform in class, participate in recitals, and join camp ensembles. The course emphasizes both individual growth and the joy of making music together.
No prior musical experience required. Experienced campers will be placed in the intermediate or advanced cohorts
A strong desire to learn and a willingness to practice regularly.
Students, particularly commuter campers, may be required to provide their own guitar, amplifier (for electric guitar), and accessories such as picks and a tuner.
The camp will provide sheet music and other necessary materials.
