Brass Instruments

This course is designed to introduce students to the world of brass instruments, including the trumpet, trombone, French horn, and tuba. Through focused instruction and practice, students will develop fundamental musical skills such as:

Basic Technique: Proper embouchure, breath control, and fingerings.
Music Reading: Learning to read and interpret sheet music, including rhythm, pitch, and dynamics.
Musical Repertoire: Exploring a variety of musical styles and genres, from classical to contemporary.
Ensemble Playing: Collaborating with other brass and wind players in ensembles, such as brass quintets and wind bands.

Students will have the opportunity to perform in class, participate in recitals, and join camp ensembles. The course emphasizes both individual growth and the joy of making music together.

Prerequisites:

No prior musical experience required. Campers with more experience will be placed in the intermediate and advanced cohorts.

A strong desire to learn and a willingness to practice regularly.

Materials:

Students may need to provide their own instrument.

The camp instructors will provide sheet music and other necessary materials.
