Audio/Sound Engineering

This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of audio engineering, the art and science of sound recording, mixing, and production. Through hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge, students will learn to:

Understand Sound: Explore the physics of sound, including frequency, amplitude, and waveform.
Master Audio Equipment: Learn to use a variety of audio equipment, such as microphones, mixers, audio interfaces, and digital audio workstations (DAWs).
Record Audio: Develop skills in microphone techniques, room acoustics, and field recording.
Edit and Mix Audio: Master the art of editing, mixing, and mastering audio tracks to create professional-quality recordings.
Music Production: Learn the basics of music production, including composing, arranging, and sequencing music.
Sound Design: Explore the world of sound design and create unique sound effects and atmospheres.

Students will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, such as recording bands, producing podcasts, and creating soundtracks for videos. The course emphasizes both technical skills and creative expression.

Prerequisites:

Basic computer skills

A strong interest in music and technology

Materials:

Students will be provided access to a computer with audio editing software (e.g., GarageBand, Ableton Live, or Pro Tools). Additional equipment, such as headphones and a microphone, would be made available.
