The Piano Camp is a unique and exciting program intended for aspiring young pianists. This course is designed to introduce students to the world of piano and keyboard instruments. Through focused instruction and practice, students will develop fundamental musical skills such as:
Basic Technique: Proper hand position, finger dexterity, and pedaling techniques.
Music Reading: Learning to read and interpret sheet music, including rhythm, pitch, and dynamics.
Musical Repertoire: Exploring a variety of musical styles and genres, from classical to contemporary.
Improvisation: Developing creativity and musical expression through improvisation and composing.
Students will have the opportunity to perform in class, participate in recitals, and join camp ensembles. The course emphasizes both individual growth and the joy of making music.
No prior musical experience required. Campers with 2+ years of piano study experience will be placed in the intermediate or advanced cohorts.
A strong desire to learn and a willingness to practice regularly.
Cornell has lots of piano campers can access, and the instructor(s) will provide sheet music and other necessary materials.
